How to: Add a new field to a table in the Design view.
Solution:
Type a field name, select a data type, and set field properties; then save and close the Table Design view.
1) If the Database window is not active, activate the Database window.
2) Open the table in Table Design view.
3) Click in the next available row of the table field definition window.
4) Type a name for the new field in the 'Field Name' column.
5) Click in the 'Data Type' column for the new field. (A down arrow appears in the column.)
6) Click on the arrow in the 'Data Type' column. (A drop-down list appears in the Data Type column.)
7) Select a data type from the drop-down list.

8) (Optional) Type a descriptions about the field in the 'Description' column for the new field.
9) Move to the 'Field Properties' section.

10) Click the 'General' tab.
11) Make any appropriate entries or selections.
12) Click the ''Lookup' tab.
13) Make any appropriate entries or selections.
14) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save'.
15) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close'.
